Borax / Sodium Borate - Laundry booster and more!
Are you looking for more natural, environmentally-friendly way to clean your house? Or a natural laundry detergent booster? Then take 5 minutes of your time and learn about what Borax can do.
[This pack contains 750g of borax powder]
Borax is an amazing 100% natural mineral salt, which is mined primarily in California & Turkey. It is used to help with laundry, cleaning, laundry, garden work and more.
We have been using borax for cleaning everything in our house because we just hate using chemicals. Cleaning sinks, toilets, bathtubs - super easy. It is also a great laundry detergent booster: all those 'natural' laundry powder and liquid may be environmentally friendly, but often they are not so efficient in removing stains, especially if you have to deal with lots of greasy food stains on your kids' clothes!
For laundry
Being strongly ALKALINE, borax acts by raising pH level of water, i.e. it softens water. This breaks down stains especially grease and protein.
Laundry detergent only lifts the stains and dirt from the fabrics, but they can be re-deposited!
This is where Borax comes in: it does not allow lifted stains and dirts in the laundry to re-deposited onto your clothes and fabrics. How?
It maintains a NEGATIVE ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE between the fabrics and dirt. So they repel each other - they won't stick again.
You can either pre-soak your laundry for 30 minutes, or add 1/2 cup in your pre-wash cycle in the machine.
For bathroom
You don't need to buy "bathroom cleaners" ever again. All you need is borax, wet sponge and toilet brush.
Sprinkle Borax on sponge and scrub the surface. Rinse with water. DONE. For toilet, leave borax overnight for tough stain, and scrub it with a brush in the morning.
For removing sticker residue
Mix borax/water in a 2:1 ratio, then rub the mixture on to the glue residue of sticky adhesive.
For pet's area
Dissolve 1/2 cup of borax for every gallon of hot water (approx 3.8 liters). Spray the solution onto pet beds, wipe bowls and pet carriers. Rinse everything with pure water. DONE!
For kitchen
Dissolve 1/2 cup of borax for every gallon of hot water (approx 3.8 liters). Scrub, wipe down for a clean finish. DONE!
This solution can be used to clean pots and dishes.
For window cleaning
is your window full of greasy hand prints of your children? Dissolve 1/2 cup of borax for every gallon of hot water (approx 3.8 liters). Use this solution to remove tough stain on your window, followed by water/vinegar solution.
Natural Ant Poison
In this recipe, having mixed borax and sugar, you mix water and syrup to form very sticky mixture, and put it in a plastic cup with holes where ants can come inside.

If you want to kill the colony, then just mix borax and powdered sugar (a 1:3 ratio), and let the ants carry them away into their colony, where they will be fed to larvae. It is very efficient. Boron is a beneficial mineral where plants can benefit, so there is no worry in soil contamination.
However, it is very important that you keep them away from the Borax remedies.
DIY crafts
For older children, you can use borax to grow the most fascinating borax crystals.
