Genmai cha means 'brown rice green tea' in Japanese. We sourced organically grown green tea, bancha, from a certified green tea farm from Uji, Kyoto, and combined it with house-toasted GABA brown jasmine rice from Thailand. We also added their stone-ground, organic matcha powder from the same green tea farm to add stronger green tea flavor.
We work with a group of farmers in Uji, who have been dedicated to organic farming for decades. They are certified by various organizations:
- JAS organic certification（HOAS）
- EU organic certification
- USDA National Organic Program
- Canadian Organic Regime（COR）
- U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")

The brown rice is sprouted in water prior to being toasted to maximize the nutty, sweet flavor. This is very well-balanced with slightly bitter taste of matcha powder.
