98% Alpha lipoic acid powder (universal antioxidant & antioxidant regenerator)
This variant is currently sold out
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) (98%) has a superhero ability to neutralize free radicals in both water and fat-soluble tissues, while acting as a metabolic antioxidant. It can also recycle other antioxidants, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, and glutathione. Being a heavy metal binder, it can bind with toxic metals to remove them from the body.
What does ALA do?
Blood sugar: ALA can promote the efficiency of glucose uptake into cells. It can also improve insulin sensitivity and provides protection against insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome (! however, it could also lower blood glucose level, see below for possible side-effects)
Skin health: it can promote rapid wound healing and improve skin health. A cream containing 5% ALA can reduce the visible signs of aging such as wrinkles, pigmentation, enlarged pores, under-eye bags and puffiness.
Diabetics: can protect against nerve damage, cardiovascular disease, eye-related disorders and pain/swelling.
Nerve protection: it can improve the symptoms and pain associated with acute backache because it can protects our nerves by prevent damage to our DNA. ALA can also pass the blood brain barrier where it can prevent oxidative damage, promotes new nerve growth, inhibits inflammation and decreases cell death. This is why it has a potential role in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, MS, seizures, diabetic neuropathies.
Other benefits include: polycystic ovary syndrome, hypertension, weight loss, migraine prevention, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, HIV/AIDS.
Before taking ALA, consult your health-care provider about its safety and possible interactions with other medications you may be taking. If ALA supplements cause heartburn, talk with your provider about whether it is appropriate to continue.
Side-effects tend to occur when taken on an empty stomach. ALA has some burning sensation if you take it without capsules, but it will pass, just drink water. START ON LOW DOSAGE!
Other reported side effects include fatigue, insomnia, skin rash and diarrhea.
ALA might cause blood sugar levels to drop, so people with diabetes should consult with their health-care providers before taking it.
People deficient in thiamine, which is associated with long-term alcohol abuse, should not take alpha-lipoic acid. It is not known whether ALA is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
If you are on cancer medications and thyroid medications, consult your physicians.
