Our finest quality, wholly organic matcha powder comes from organic green tea farms from Uji, Kyoto. The tea grows on healthy soil packed with beneficial microbes, and is in rich in tannin, the naturally occurring antioxidant.

We work with a group of farmers in Uji, who have been dedicated to organic farming for decades. They are certified by various organizations:

  • JAS organic certification(HOAS)
  • EU organic certification
  • USDA National Organic Program
  • Canadian Organic Regime(COR)
  • U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")

Here is Tomo san and his beautiful family! We visit them every time we go back to see our family in Kyoto!

Unlike common matcha, which is ground by high-powered machine, our ceremonial-grade matcha is stone-ground using traditional granite grinders – the process is ultra-slow but minimises the oxidization of the active components, thereby retaining the maximum nutritional benefits and giving the tea such a vibrant colour.

How to drink

Individual preference dictates how you might prefer to drink yours, but we recommend starting with a small dose - 1/4 teaspoon per cup. The powder will not completely dissolve so, if not drunk immediately, is likely to set.

Moderation is key: while it may be delicious, consuming large amounts of matcha may upset your stomach and is not recommended.

How to store

We recommend that you place the matcha in an air-tight container in a cool place to ensure that the powder does not get exposed to oxygen. This will help ensure it retains its freshness and taste.
